According to the Associated Press, the lawyer who represents the seven women filed a subpoena that would bring Mrs. Cosby to the stand on January 6 in a MA court.
Cosby’s lawyers filed a motion on Friday to quash the subpoena, saying she had no first-hand, non-repetitive knowledge of issues in the lawsuit. They also argue that any confidential communications between Cosby and his wife are protected by the MA spousal disqualification rule.
The women want to hear from Camille because she was also Cosby’s business manager at the time of the alleged offenses. In their original suit, the women said Bill Cosby portrayed them as liars after they went public with their allegations.
The seven women suing Cosby for defamation in federal court in Springfield are among approximately 50 women who have come forward over the previous year alleging that he sexually assaulted or had unwanted sexual contact with them decades ago. Now, Cosby and his lawyers are trying to fight a subpoena against his wife, Camille Cosby.
Cosby has denied he sexually assaulted any of the seven women.
