Both Miller and Cheap Trick made it during their first year on the ballots. Chicago, with over 23 per cent votes, became the fan favourite among the fellow inductees.

Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan slammed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee recently while Paice described that a potential Deep Purple induction could result in a punch-up between current and former members. A statement from the organisers said: “Deep Purple’s non-inclusion in the Hall is a gaping hole which must now be filled”, calling them “the Holy Trinity of hard rock and metal bands” along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath who are already inductees. HBO will broadcast the ceremony at a later date and tickets go on sale in February.
