Michelle Dockery Thanks Fans For Support Following Death Of Fiance

The 34-year-old actress is understood to have been with Dineen for his final days at the Irish hospice, which specialises in palliative care, The Guardian added.

Michelle started dating the financial PR in September 2013 after being introduced by mutual friend Allen Leach, who played chauffeur Tom Branson in the ITV show. It wasn’t until 2014 that she shed just a hint of light on her love life, when she stated during an interview that she had a “wonderful man in my life from Ireland“. The couple met through Dockery’s co-star, Allen Leech. “That’s all you need to know”, she’d said, according to the Daily Mail. Per reports, a funeral service is expected to take place in Cork Wednesday.

Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the popular period drama, pulled out of a USA promotional tour late last week to be with Dineen.

It’s been reported that he proposed to Dockery in February, though she never publicly announced their plans to marry. “She’s a great girl – probably as far from [her Downton Abbey character] Lady Mary as you could imagine”. A number of media reports claimed the two had gotten engaged this year, though the news was not confirmed. Dockery’s fiance was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

“John was so proud of her and very much encouraged her to keep working, but she feels bad that they didn’t manage to tie the knot in time“.

Dineen was a senior director with FTI Consulting. With the holidays coming up this month, as well, this has got to be a hardest  time for Michelle Dockery.
