Even though the smartphone hasn’t been officially announced yet, a few new renders of the Mi5 have just leaked online (via Gadgetzarena). Today, the renders of the so-called Xiaomi Mi5 got leaked on the Internet, giving us a clear look at the device. The current photo features front of the smartphone. It is expected that this button will double up as a fingerprint scanner. Apart from the above-mentioned points, the pictures don’t reveal much but rest assured that Xiaomi will be launching the Mi 5 with the top of the line hardware at an affordable price point, something it manages to do with all its products. As per the leak, this will indeed be the smallest and fastest fingerprint sensor on a smartphone. There were multiple possible release dates after that, but the device never really saw the light of the day. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, however, has promised the fans of the company that the Mi 5 will be worth the wait.
Last but not least, Xiaomi Mi5 is likely to be powered by a 3,600 mAh battery, and it should sport a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) rather than Quad HD resolution. There will be 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options available to users.
So, the latest rumors say that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will have a very small oval home button below the screen which will hide a fingerprint scanner, but the leaked images posted on Weibo were actually two drawings about a patent application for the sensor, and the home button was missing, which means that the technology could be integrated into the screen. On the rear side will be placed a 16MP camera, and you’ll take selfies with the 13MP front camera. The 4GB RAM/64GB memory variant will cost 354$ (which roughly translates to around Rs 24,000).
Coming over to the design, leaks recommend that the telephone will include a curved 3D glass. The handset features a metal frame with chamfered edges, which accommodates a USB Type-C connector at the bottom, flanked by a couple of antenna bands and fine-drilled speaker grilles.
