Super Cool Semi-Transparent Nintendo 2DS Coming To Japan

December 28 16:23 2015

As reported by Destructoid, the launch, Nintendo 2DS devices in Japan will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of Pokemon for the Gameboy, coming in one of four semi-transparent colors.

As an extra bonus, each Nintendo 2DS bundle will also come with menu themes specific to each title, stickers, a map of the Kanto region (in which the first games took place in) and a download code for Pokemon No. 151; Mew.

Each color of the Nintendo 2DS corresponds with the classic titles Pokemon Red, Blue, Green, and Pikachu Yellow, and the handhelds come with the matching game pre-installed.

Nintendo has promised that the games will be in their original form, with the only difference being the platform, so there will be no need to use the Game Boy Link Cable to trade as was previously the case. A promotion was announced to coincide with the release that will give the Mew to all owners of the game in Japan via the serial code. According to Nintendo World Report, the Blue system will be exclusive to Japan’s Pokemon Center stores, while the other colors will have general availability. The see-through blue and red consoles are available in the USA now, but they do not come bundled with Pokemon. For Japanese players, however, the consoles and the games will be available for preorder digitally as well as on retail on February 27, 2016.
