“They were very close friends and it is such a heartbreaking loss”, Backroad Anthem posted on their Facebook page on Monday, December 28.
As some of you may know at this point yesterday early morning about 2 am Craig Strickland & his good friend Chase Morland headed out to go duck hunting. The band says no contact has been made with either person in more than 24 hours.
The buddies, Craig, 29, who is the frontman for the popular country band Backroad Anthem, and Chase Morland, 22, went on a duck hunting trip late Saturday in Tulsa.
Search and rescue efforts for Strickland were halted on Monday evening due to low visibility and weather, but are expected to continue Tuesday morning.
Strickland is the lead singer for the band Backroad Anthem.
Kay County Sheriff’s office contacted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at about 9 p.m. Sunday after they learned that two hunters became missing at Kaw Lake sometime over the weekend. “Please join us tonight at the Cross Church Springdale student building as we pray for Craig, the families, and his safety”, the message read.
Morland, from Van Buren, Arkansas, posted on Twitter on Sunday that he and Strickland were “going through Winter Storm Goliath” to go hunting. “We ask all of our customers to remember this family at this time”.
We do not know much more information at this point.
