Colombian says sorry for burning Wurtzbach effigy

Ariadna Gutierrez told Colombia’s W radio Wednesday that no one can take away the four minutes during which she wore the crown.

Colombians are not yet ready to forgive and forget Miss Universe host Steve Harvey for his blunder and are burning his and the 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach’s effigies to show their anger.

The video had a caption written in Spanish and loosely translated as “Burning Ms. Philippines and Ms. Universe presenter previous year 2015”. I heard from the news that something had happened and they announced the wrong victor. For 2016 however, said practice has earned the ire of many Filipino netizens who accused the culprits of being “bitter” in line with the Miss Universe 2015 results.

In the interview, Miss Gutierrez called the incident a “great shock” and a “great injustice”.

In addition to Choi, Super Junior’s leader Lee Teuk also congratulated Wurtzbach on Instagram, saying (in Korean), “Congratulations, Miss Universe”. ‘Paulina Vega did not know what to do and she asked me and I told her take me off the crown.

On the other hand, Gutierrez has had enough time to grieve over her loss and she is optimistic about the future as there have been a good number of job opportunities offered to her. She also said she has been offered a job in the United States, which is a good start as she moves on from the humiliating experience. But the laughter didn’t last long, and Gutierrez maintains that the way the error was handled on live television was not fair to her, only adding to the humiliation she had to endure.

Despite the overall emotional turmoil, however, Gutierrez ended her interview on a high note, sharing that despite not ultimately winning the title, she did manage to make history, which she added is “more important than winning the Miss Universe title”.

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, who formerly co-owned the pageant, suggested in a phone call to NBC’s Today that Miss Wurtzbach and Miss Gutierrez be named co-winners. “She did it she put the crown onto the new Miss Universe and she pulled me and said ‘Let’s go now”.
