The terror group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi released a 24-minute-long message in a twisted bid to inspire Muslims to fight for the Jihad last week.
Top Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi says, ‘Crusaders and Jews don’t dare to come on the ground because they were defeated in Iraq and Afghanistan’. To Israeli Jews, he said that they “will hide behind trees and stones” from the IS.
Al-Baghdadi also renewed his call for all Muslims to join his group in battling what he called “nations of infidelity launching a war on Islam”. The Islamic State group released the message on Saturday, which it claims is recorded by al-Baghdadi.
In the last few days, Iraqi government forces have mounted a major offensive to recapture the city of Ramadi from the Islamic State, hoping to deal the group a major blow in the western province of Anbar, a stronghold. There was no way for AFP to authenticate that it was Baghdadi speaking, but the voice appeared to match previous recordings of him.
“Jews, soon you shall hear from us in Palestine which will become your grave”, he said.
The unhinged message, which was circulated amongst jihadi fighters online, is the latest evidence that the increasingly fragile hate group is falling apart amid reports it is desperately short of both fighters and weapons.
He was dismissive of a newly announced Islamic alliance against terrorism, led by Saudi Arabia.
Baghdadi presented the conflict as a fully global war, uniting all “disbelievers” against his nation of true Muslims, saying his followers remain confident that they will eventually be granted victory, while mocking the coalitions aligned against them.
Al-Baghdadi’s alleged message came on Saturday, right after Christians celebrated the Christmas holiday. Also, it was produced by the al-Furqan Media Foundation, IS media arm.
In recent days, the Islamic State has suffered defeat after defeat, including the strategic loss of a key dam in Syria and the liberation of the important city of Ramadi by Iraqi forces. The strikes targeting Islamic State fighters, facilities and vehicles were carried out by fighter aircraft, bombers and remotely controlled aircraft.
