Pictures of a new version of Google Glass have emerged in filings with American authorities, revealing a bendy design more akin to typical glasses. The FCC fliling shows Google Glass which is not much different from the one now available in the market but foldability could be a big feature here.
Curiously, while these images are finally live on the FCC website, Google has yet to formally announce the Enterprise Edition of Glass in any capacity.
For one, the new version does not have a nose bridge and the brand new hinge allows the glasses to fold up – something the Explorer Edition could not do.
However, 9to5Google reports that “hundreds of units” have been distributed to Glass for Work partner companies, who will likely load proprietary software on the wearable before selling them.
Analysts say the new Google Glass might be packed with hardware, and an internal speaker can be seen in the uploaded images.
Unlike the first Google Glass, the next generation of wearable computers will be developed as a business tool rather than a personal gadget, according to media speculation. 9to5Google is reporting that the device is weather-resistant, too, which ought to make it suited for field work.
In developing Google Glass, the company saw many challenges. It has been reported that the latest version of the Google Glass is the “Enterprise Edition” and will be aimed at businesses. Instead, Google shut down its Glass Explorer program in favor of taking the technology in… Furthermore several wrinkles with the original Glass have been ironed out such as; power button placement, camera activity light and Google has introduced some degree of water and dust proofing.
But consumers won’t be able to get their hand on the new glasses.
The whole device also appeared to be rounder and smoother than the first Google Glass.
