Andre Arlovski took on Stipe Miocic in the co-main event of UFC 195. Once referee Herb Dean pulled Miocic off his fallen prey, the Ohioan rushed to the fence and shouted at UFC President Dana White that he deserves to be next in line for the heavyweight title. He then walks away and then goes back to yell at him again! White said at the event’s press conference at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. “He was like a psycho. I wasn’t going to say no”. Since, he has left the UFC, won four straight fights back in the organization, and entered tonight with an opportunity to receive a future title shot against the victor of UFC 196’s headliner Fabricio Werdum versus Cain Velasquez.
Slightly calmed afterward, Miocic was apparently granted a title shot by UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
Though fans and fighters know plans can change.
Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski sits in the UFC heavyweight rankings as the number two heavyweight in the world, with Stipe Miocic right behind him at number three. His loss in this period came against former champion Junior dos Santos, in a fight where many fans thought Miocic had won. However, that bout was the last fight on his UFC contract and he has opted to test the market via free agency.
While folks shined a light on Arlovski’s return to prominence, Miocic’s rise to contendership is an impressive story in itself.
