“Daredevil” season 1 was a heck of a thrill to watch, but unfortunately for many, the problem remains the same: Having to wait so long to see what happens next! “We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think”.
The first season of Marvel Studios and Netflix’s Daredevil series premiered on April 10, but it seems that the reported rumors that season 2 will be premiering earlier than the first are becoming true.
“The advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in”, showrunner Doug Petrie told EW when talking about season 2’s fast-paced storytelling, “We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f-ing could. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water”. “It will still be dark, but we’ve added more layers”, said Petrie.
It was confirmed previously that Daredevil and his alter ego, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) will have a lot on his plate in season 2 as he butts heads with the Punisher/Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and deal with the return of his ex-girlfriend, Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung).
Honestly, The Punisher sounds like the ideal foil to Daredevil for continuing his internal conflict, as he had more than his fair share of doubts about whether he was already crossing the line as his costumed alter ego. “And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care”.
The new season of Daredevil brings both the Punisher and Elektra to Matt Murdoch’s corner of Hell’s Kitchen. “She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side”. Elektra just lets it out.
In 2015, “Daredevil” finally got a praise-worthy screen adaptation after Ben Affleck’s critically thumbed down theatrical portrayal of The Man Without Fear in 2003.
