‘Fuller House’: John Stamos explains absence of Olsen twins

January 05 03:39 2016

Granted, no one seriously thought Elizabeth Olsen would lower herself as second-fiddle to the elder twins for a cursory Michelle appearance, it’s at least of interest to hear they tried.

Most of the beloved actors from the TV series Full House are returning for the resurgence on Netflix.

During an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, John said that he and producer Jeff Franklin contacted Elizabeth’s people after her sisters turned down the role.

Elaborating a bit on that thought, Stamos continues, “They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses”. “We talked to her agent and the agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not gonna do that, ‘” he said.

It’s interesting that the women no longer view themselves as actresses.

“I did call and talked to Mary-Kate and explained what the show is going to be and told them I’d love for them to be on there, and they decided not to, which I respect…” Stamos further explained that Mary-Kate and Ashely weren’t even okay doing an offscreen phone call.

And while the show has already offered up an explanation as to why Michelle will be noticeably absent from the San Francisco clan, that doesn’t mean her family isn’t still talking about it. Uncle Jesse, we’re looking at you.

Fuller House, in which Stamos, Bob Saget, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodi Sweetin, and Lori Loughlin, among others, will reprise their beloved characters, will debut on Netflix on 26 February (16).
