Kanye West croons `Gold Digger` during ‘American Idol’ auditions

With the 15th and final season of American Idol set to air in the United States this week, the footage of Kanye’s audition has been released.

FOX TV Kanye West surprised the judges with an audition for “American Idol“.

Snippets of the video first appeared on the Internet back in October a year ago, but now the whole clip of Kanye rocking up to American Idol auditions has surfaced.

“Originally a producer”, he says, when asked what he does. “Always wanted to rap but nobody believed in me”, he said.

Kanye spent a lot of time in the United Kingdom previous year, including performing at The BRITs, headlining at Glastonbury and giving a lecture at Oxford University so apparently he rather fancies the aristocratic lifestyle.

Given the song’s name check to judge Jennifer Lopez, Kanye made a decision to spit a verse from “Gold Digger“, but a cappella it sounds pretty odd. They burst into laughter and offer the global superstar a “golden ticket” to Hollywood.

The new series of American Idol premieres on Wednesday at 8 pm on Fox.
