Houston lands former Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen

Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle, we learned where he’s headed. He will have a year to learn under head coach Tom Herman’s system, which boasts an offensive unit that scored 40.4 points per game and ranked 13th in the nation in total offense.

The news doesn’t come as a complete surprise – Allen reportedly met with Herman a few weeks back.

Allen will have to sit out next season in order to be eligible for the 2017 campaign.

In two seasons, he passed for 3,532 yards, with 33 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

Another former Texas A&M QB is on the move. He also started five games as a true freshman in 2014, passing for 1,322 yards, with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Allen engineered Texas A&M’s 5-0 start, but was benched midway through the season as the team dropped games against SEC West foes Alabama and Ole Miss.

Coming out of Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., Allen was rated the nation’s top quarterback by ESPN, Rivals, Scout and 247Sports after throwing for more than 8,000 yards and 86 touchdowns over his high school career.
