The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is making clear that it doesn’t matter where you conduct your business-from a store, at gun shows, or over the Internet: If you’re in the business of selling firearms, you must get a license and conduct background checks.

“Barack Obama released terrorists from Guantanamo, and now they’re plotting to attack us”, Mr. Rubio says in the 30-second ad.

The president also mentioned a 2013 Department of Justice report, which showed that use of smart gun tech could help reduce accidental deaths and the use of stolen guns in criminal activities.

The gun control debate is hitting home.

Of those injured, then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, and the late Bill Badger, who helped detain the shooter.

“We are certainly going to have a whip meeting tonight, which I am a member of, I’m sure this will be one of the top priorities”, Zinke said.

The research and development money will be part of a larger effort by the president to help curb gun violence.

“If today’s actions mirror that type of overreach, we will take whatever legal action is necessary to uphold the rule of law and defend the constitutional rights of citizens to keep and bear arms”.

Tester, a gun owner, voted nearly three years ago to require background checks for those buying firearms at gun shows. For private sales between individuals, no background check is needed.

But January 8th shooter Jared Loughner had passed a background check the day he bought the weapon later used on the crowd at a political rally.

“I have and always will be a defender of our Second Amendment rights”, Bullock said, “It is my duty to protect that freedom….”

Hardy believes it comes down to mental health awareness.

Before the shooting, Loughner’s behavior had raised red flags, but not enough to put him on a no-sell list for gun dealers.

“The Attorney General’s Office is reviewing the president’s executive actions on firearms carefully and assessing how they relate to Montana and federal law”, Fox spokesman John Barnes wrote in a statement Tuesday.

Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly have also been invited to the White House.
