She stood up in the bleachers behind Mr. Trump after he said in his speech that Syrian Refugees fleeing war in Syria were connected to the Islamic State terrorist group, CNN reported.
Thought she said nothing, people in the crowd began chanting “Trump!”
Major Steven Thompson of the Rock Hill Police Department told CNN Hamid was kicked out of the event because the campaign told him beforehand that “anybody who made any kind of disturbance” should be escorted out.
Following the ejection of Hamid, Trump reportedly told the crowd of supporters at the campaign rally: “There is hatred against us that is unbelievable“.
According to Hamid, the point of showing up to the rally was to show Trump supporters what Muslims are really like.
Hamid – who is the co-founder and president of Muslim Women of the Carolinas and writes a column for The Charlotte Observer about her faith – blamed Trump for the torrent of abuse she received from the audience.
“I would like to hear what Trump has to say about it”, she told The Associated Press by phone.
The forum was being interrupted by protesters, who House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis, ignored, but Kasich used the chance to criticize Trump and his reaction to the protest waged by Rose Hamid.
Virulent statements against Muslims are nothing new for Trump, who has called on the government to monitor mosques and has refused to rule out his earlier proposal to enter the names of Muslims in America into a database. She said the commotion attracted security personnel to her section and she was then asked to leave the rally and escorted out of the building. She added that she had wanted the crowd to see what a real Muslim looked like.
Several other protesters were also ejected from the same rally.
At the time the 56-year-old flight attendant had been directly seated behind Trump as he went on to make his speech to gathered supporters in the town of Rock Hill when she rose in defiance. “They just said, ‘Come with me, come with me.’ I was asking, ‘Why?”
