Howe confirms deal agreed for Wolves striker Afobe

The 22-year-old has already found the net 10 times this campaign and will look to make a similar impact for a Bournemouth team that is four points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Boss Eddie Howe had confirmed after Bournemouth’s 2-1 FA Cup win at Birmingham on Saturday that the Cherries had finalised an agreement for Afobe.

Howe warned there were still “hurdles” to clear, but added Afobe would “bring strength, power and hopefully goals“.

Benik Afobe has revealed his delight after completing a £10m move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Bournemouth.

“He’s a good technical player as well, I think he’s got the whole package”.

Afobe scored 19 goals for the MK Dons in League One during the first half of the 2014-15 season before he was allowed to join Wolves on a permanent basis in January 2015 for around £2m.

The former Arsenal striker will bolster the attacking options available to Howe who had until recently relied upon Joshua King, who is now sidelined with a niggling hamstring injury, to fill the void left by Callum Wilson, who picked up an anterior cruciate knee injury against Stoke City. He has 10 in 27 outings this season for the Sky Bet Championship side.

However, the departure of chairman Steve Morgan, who has put Wolves up for sale, means Wolves need to cash to finance new signings. “We need firepower and he will add competition for places and real quality”.

“The players we have here proved they can do a job – Murray came off the bench and scored and it was good to see Lee Tomlin score.

We wish him all the best in the Premier League“.
