Chiefs’ Jeremy Maclin has sprained ankle, not torn ACL

January 10 21:58 2016

Chiefs receiver Jeremy Maclin received good news Sunday after an MRI showed that the seven-year pro didn’t tear the ACL in his right knee, but rather suffered a high ankle sprain, the team announced.

Duvernay-Tardif, a sixth-round pick in 2014, started 13 games this season. After being examined, he lobbied the medical staff to let him continue playing, but they wouldn’t allow it.

On Sunday, head coach Andy Reid spoke at a press conference and updated the situation.

People were skeptical about the acquisition of Maclin this past off season due to Smith’s fear of throwing down field, but the former Missouri Tiger has made all the difference in the Kansas City offensive unit. Watt is set to have surgery on Tuesday to fix his injured groin. On 3rd and 4 or 3rd and goal situations, what play will Reid go to?

There wasn’t much need for it today – because Brian Hoyer kept giving the ball away – but Kansas City’s defense, which finished third in points allowed, is elite and getting better with the return of Justin Houston.

After having led the National Football League this past season in sacks (17.5), multi-sack games (6), QB hits (50) and tackles-for-loss (29), Watt might win his second National Football League defensive-player-of-the-year award. He makes an otherwise bland Chiefs’ offense far more hard to defend.

“I just explode”, said Winter.

“The individual awards are great”, Watt said. “I just felt like sticking with him was the right thing to do”.

-Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins had a pedestrian game, recording six receptions for 69 yards on 11 targets.

WR Jeremy Maclin (hip) is listed as probable for Saturday’s wild-card game against the Houston Texans.
