Man United face Derby trip in FA Cup fourth round

January 11 20:02 2016

Chelsea booked their place in the fourth round after beating Scunthorpe United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge yesterday and Guus Hiddink’s side will now face a trip to either Northampton Town or MK Dons.

Bottom-club and 2015 finalists Aston Villa were also fortunate to escape with a replay against League Two opponents as they were held 1-1 at Wycombe Wanderers.

There is one guaranteed all-Premier League tie and a couple of possibles while holders Arsenal will be confident that they can continue the successful defence of their title.

They are now sitting in one of the play-off positions in a very tough and competitive division and not only that, they beat the league leaders Middlesborough away from home in their own FA cup 3rd round clash, so by no means are The Claret’s going to be a pushover for Arsenal.

Liverpool will host West Ham United if they get past Exeter City in a replay.

Despite some scares, the remaining five of six Premier League sides progressed to the four round, including Manchester United, who needed a 93rd minute Wayne Rooney penalty to beat Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

West Brom/Bristol City v Peterborough United.

Wycombe/Aston Villa v Manchester City.

Posh haven’t reached the fifth round of the FA Cup since the 1985-86 campaign when John Wile’s struggling Fourth Division side took Second Division Brighton to a replay before losing 1-0 at the Goldstone Ground to a late Dean Saunders goal.

Newport County’s home tie with Blackburn Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Gunners are hoping to become the first club to win three FA Cups in a row since Blackburn Rovers in the 19th century
