FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez reports that Rob Ryan will join twin brother Rex’s staff with the Bills.
Bills coach Rex Ryan could make a return visit to “Hard Knocks” this summer, this time with twin brother Rob at his side. Even more so in 2016 when the Bills head coach will fully run his scheme as opposed to this past season when Rex tried to merge his ideas with some concepts utilized by Jim Schwartz in 2014. “And so we are both really looking forward to this opportunity”.
Rob Ryan was sacked by the New Orleans Saints as defensive coordinator during the season. With the defense ranked at the bottom of nearly every statistical category since last season, it was time to move on.
Hired in January after six seasons with the New York Jets, Rex Ryan closed his first season in Buffalo with an 8-8 record, and the Bills extended the NFL’s longest active playoff drought to 16 seasons. The Bills struggled defensively last season, giving up the ninth-most yards per play (5.6) during the 2015 season. Graham, a safety, led the Bills with 127 tackles and Brown, a linebacker, was second with 120.
“We’re going to do things much differently next year, and we’re going to be better because of it”, Ryan said. Buddy is known in football circles as one of the great defensive minds in the history of the sport. He’s as prepared as any coach in the league.
“But just to get a win, I don’t care if we’re playing East Carolina, you want to get a win, there’s no question about it”. They might be in the market for a successor to Nigel Bradham should they not be able to re-sign the pending free agent linebacker.
Carrington, Brooks and Bradham are unrestricted free agents on the defensive side. Brooks, a role player, has declared he won’t be back. None other than Tyrod Taylor.????
