PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today showered praise on Jammu and Kashmir’s bureaucracy, saying it had worked with “single-minded dedication” and “out-of-box thinking” to ensure good governance under the Chief Ministership of her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

This announcement puts an end to the suspense over whether Mehbooba has agreed to be sworn in as the next chief minister to head the PDP-BJP coalition government.

“Gadkariji will also meet state party leaders to discuss the formation of new government in the state”, BJP state spokesperson Khalid Jahangir told IANS. Both PDP and BJP have dismissed any rethinking on the mutual alliance. She may be a tough politician who has been through the mill, but she is clearly too devoted to her father and political mentor to destroy his legacy. It’s true that she is in a state of mourning and it will take her some time to recover fully from this personal loss. Mehbooba still has a significant part of her political future waiting up ahead in the distance.

“It was supposed to hold an internal meeting on Sunday but it ended up paying homage to Mufti saheb, it was a condolence meet”.

Mehbooba also visited her father’s grave on Sunday, where she was seen breaking down.

After a due recommendation from the Union Home Ministry to the President of India, for imposition of Governor’s rule in the state, so also a similar communication from J&K Governor, NN Vohra the decision has been taken.

In short, while the visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, along with her party colleagues Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni, triggered speculation about a possible realignment of political forces, it is now clear that for the moment, it will be a PDP-BJP government again.

“Let PDP open its cards”, the BJP leader added.

Days after the demise of Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, it seems that the BJP and PDP are renegotiating the terms of their alliance.

Sharma said it was a “historic” coalition between the BJP and the PDP in the state and “we would like it continue”.

The third time Governor’s Rule was imposed in January 1990 when Farooq Abdullah resigned as the Chief Minister over the appointment of Jagmohan Malhotra as the state Governor following eruption of militancy in the state. “What RSS could not achieve in the last six decades, they have achieved that in the last six months”.

“We will try to fulfill all the assurances given to him on Jammu and Kashmir”, the minister said.
