UK’s Brit Awards to pay tribute to ‘visionary’ David Bowie

The director of David Bowie musical Lazarus has told Sky News the singer “was still full of plans” for the future and “didn’t want to die at all”.

A memorial concert, which had initially been organized as a tribute show, is also being planned for New York’s Carnegie Hall in March.

Most people would be satisfied with the life of a bonafide rock star, or being hailed as one of the most well-respected musicians of their time, but Bowie needed to more. “Bowie made so many great albums, constantly reinventing himself, that everyone has their own favourites and fans are clearly reminding themselves of his massive contribution to popular music by paying these great, iconic works”.

The veteran rocker, who succumbed to cancer on Sunday after an 18-month battle, is set to unseat Adele’s “25” for the top-selling album on Billboard’s hot 200.

There was a similar spike on Apple Music, where 21 of Bowie’s tracks are now ranked in the top 100 of the most streamed songs.

Visconti admitted he was “knocked sideways” when he learnt of Bowie’s death – but does not know the details of what happened in his final days. “It ended with this sentence: “Thank you for our good times, Brian. they will never rot”, Eno said.

The couple, who married in 1992, have a 15-year-old daughter, Lexi.

The singer died from liver cancer in NY just days after celebrating his 69th birthday.

Bowie’s son Duncan Jones confirmed the news the followinf morning (Jan 11) writing on Twitter: “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true”.

Highlighting how secret Bowie kept his illness, long-time collaborator and friend Brian Eno said his death came as “a complete surprise”.
