An Amazon Prime Subscription Is $26 Cheaper This Weekend

It turns out that the company really wants you to subscribe to its Prime services as they have announced that they will also be discounting its Prime membership.

The entire range of selection can be instantly accessed through the Amazon Video app on TVs, streaming media players, mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire tablets, or online at Amazon.com/amazonvideo. Subscribers are key to the companies’ fortunes, and unique video has become a main attraction.

Amazon is knocking its usual $99 Prime price tag down to $73 this weekend to celebrate its “Mozart in the Jungle” wins at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. It’s also included for no extra cost with a £79/year Amazon Prime subscription.

Amazon’s two Globe trophies, compared with Netflix’s zero, provided a fresh selling point.

The series won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series- Comedy or Musical, and Gael Garcia Bernal, who stars in and plays the lead character in Mozart in the Jungle, won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series- Comedy or Musical.

This marks four awards for Amazon, following last year’s double win for Transparent in the same categories.

Grab the snacks and cancel your plans: Amazon is making seasons one and two of its Mozart in the Jungle original series available for free this weekend.

That means about 2 of every 5 USA homes connected to the web have an Amazon Prime subscription, a new estimate says. In its last earnings report, Amazon said they expected operating income to come in between $80 million and $1.28 billion, compared to $591 million in the same quarter of 2014.
