Miss Washington embroiled in MLS stabbing case

January 14 20:28 2016

Miss Washington USA Stormy Keffeler has apologized for failing to disclose a drunken-driving guilty plea that could mean the loss of her crown. Her blood-alcohol level was.22, well above the legal limit, and she pleaded guilty in September before spending two days in the Kirkland Jail in December. An officer claimed Keffeler, a former member of the Lingerie Football League’s Seattle Mist, was intoxicated and driving on two flat tires when she was pulled over.

There is no shortage of pressing questions surrounding this story but the most important one is clearly “will Keffeler keep her title?”

“There was nothing disclosed on her paperwork”, Maureen Francisco, Miss Washington USA Pageant co-director, told KIRO.

First runner-up Kelsey Schmidt will assume the title immediately, according to an official with the Miss Washington USA Pageant.

According to the rules of the beauty pageant, contestants promise they have not or will not engage in illegal activity, ‘any felony conviction, probation or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude’.

Keffeler – described on the pageant’s website as a freelance hair and makeup artist who’s studying journalism – said she’s paying for her mistake.

The former Sounders midfielder was arrested in July for DUI and speeding, and missed a month of action while undergoing an assessment by MLS’ Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program. “This is something that’s going to stick with me forever”.

Seattle police believe Miss Washington USA Stormy Keffeler may have had something to do with the stabbing of MLS player Marco Pappa
