Boy with cancer gets his wish to be world famous

Since the age of 4, Dorian has been fighting the disease of rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of soft tissue cancer.

Besides Gronkowski, Dorian has received signs of support from many countries, including Spain, France, Australia, Japan, Italy, Switzerland and even some from the Great Wall of China, which was his original goal.

He said he wanted to be famous all over the world, and after a few posts on social media sites Facebook and Twitter, his final wish has came true.

In the WPRI article the boy’s mother, Melissa, said she hopes to one day raise awareness about the marginal 20 percent survival rate for those stricken with pediatric cancer, along with advocating for much needed funding for those frequently cash strapped by its medical expenses.

When doctors told the young boy and his parents that his terminal cancer had spread and become incurable, he chose to stop treatment and go home.

“I just did what a human should do”, Xu said.

“I’m so sorry if you can’t see how many people are responding in China”, wrote one Weibo poster.

Liu Ping, a tourism company CEO, told the Chinese state news agency Xinhua that she first heard about the 8-year-old’s request on Tuesday. Who knows, maybe you are famous over there in China.

Weibo users are also sharing and uploading photos, carrying signs reading #D-powerful, shot at various places around Beijing such as the Great Wall. “It’s not that the Chinese people are indifferent – it’s that we can’t log onto Facebook”.

His family can’t believe the reach of the hashtag and the amount of support they’ve gotten for their son.

Nevertheless, Dorian’s story made headlines Thursday, with the state-run China Daily newspaper putting it on its front page.

“Dorian has brought so much inspiration to individuals, all over the world!” “If more people had access to Facebook, I am sure there would be more photos“. “He really loves it. I think he’s just not used to the paparazzi if you will”.
