It’s the same school system where two teachers were arrested on the similar charges in 2014.
Kimberly Naquin, a geography teacher, was arrested yesterday and later booked after being charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, and a felony charge of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student.
She is the third teacher from the high school accused of having sex with a student in the past year.
“We just heard the allegations for the first time two days ago, we acted upon it and obviously have been able to make this arrest quickly”, said Sheriff Greg Champagne.
“After talking with family members, deputies traveled to Lafayette where Naquin was attending a conference and asked her to return to St. Charles Parish”, Capt. Pat Yoes said. She told detectives the relationship started in September of 2014 and continued until approximately August 2015.
Naquin is being held on a $75,000 bond in the Nelson Coleman Corrections facility in Killona, Louisiana.
Yoes said Naquin lived in Kenner when the relationship began and later moved to Destrehan.
He said Naquin has been suspended without pay in accordance with district policy pending the outcome of an investigation.
They said it is a personnel matter, and no further information would be provided.
“The good news is we don’t believe any other students were involved”, Champagne, the St. Charles Parish sheriff, told WVUE.
She faces a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile – relating to sex with a teenager.
Dufresne has pleaded guilty to a felony obscenity charge for having sex with the boy at a home in Montz, where she lives.
Dufresne was also charged in St. Charles Parish and has agreed to a plea deal to avoid having to register as a sex offender.
Another former Destrehan High teacher, Rachel Respess, was accused of taking part in a three-way sexual encounter with Dufresne and a 17-year-old male student in Kenner. According to authorities, Dufresne enticed the 16-year-old teen Respess’ apartment.
