Patriots Injuries: Rob Gronkowski Limited, Tom Brady Full Participant

January 16 20:01 2016

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski received hospital treatment Thursday on his right knee, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The treatment included an injection, and forced the Patriots star to miss practice for a second time this week.

Gronkowski (knee/back) is listed as questionable for Saturday’s playoff game against the Chiefs, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports.

Fortunately for the Patriots, Gronkowski’s limited status at Wednesday’s practice indicates he was able to do some work as the team prepares for a divisional showdown with the Chiefs after missing practice Tuesday. Gronkowski led all tight ends this year with more than 1,100 receiving yards and remains the premiere red zone target in football, hauling in 11 touchdowns out of his 72 receptions.

Gronkowski was present and accounted for during Wednesday’s session, and he was listed as a limited participant due to a knee ailment. Edelman missed the better part of eight games with a broken foot, but appears ready to go on Saturday. Amendola had stepped into Edelman’s role as he recovered from injury but now could see a favorable matchup with weapons being reintroduced into the New England offense.

This is worrisome news for the Patriots, who have been riddled with injuries this season.
