Sergio Aguero struck twice as Manchester City pulled level with Arsenal in the title race with a comfortable 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
It was 2-0 on 41 minutes when Kelechi Iheanacho teed up Aguero from the left and the City man fired a shot at goal from just outside the area which beat Hennessey via a deflection off the head of Scott Dann.
Sergio Aguero was joined in attack by 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho and enjoyed the company of a recognised strike partner as he scored a goal in each half, before laying on recalled playmaker David Silva to complete the rout. Despite not playing up to their full potential, City played at a blistering pace and earned three points for their efforts.
“We had a lot of shots on target – their goalkeeper was fantastic”. It’s important for him that when he has the opportunity to play, to do it in the way he did in the last game against Norwich’.
Pellegrini has indicated that he will make some changes for the Palace match, which kicks off less than 66 hours after Wednesday’s game finished, giving little time for his players to recover.
However, the Argentine has just one goal in his past five Premier League games so Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping his striker is firing this afternoon.
“They’ve gone a few league games without a goal, but we’ll be treating them with the respect they deserve, though this is a game we need to go into with all guns blazing and try and win the match early on”.
Supplied a handsome ball through to De Bruyne in the build-up to the magnificent team goal for 3-0. Kevin De Bruyne lines up on the left hand side of a four-man midfield, with David Silva slotting in on the right. We have so many different ways to play – with two strikers, with one striker, without strikers.
“Connor played for 60 minutes and you could see the difference for us having him in the team”. He charged towards goal but showed great unselfishness by rejecting the chance of a hat-trick to set up Silva, who showed good composure to force the ball past the back-tracking Ward and get on the scoresheet and finish off the scoring.
That’s 2-0 City, although it’s not entirely clear who will get credit for the goal.
But Eriksen equalised 91 seconds later, following up to score after Sunderland league debutant Jordan Pickford had thwarted Harry Kane, and goals from Mousa Dembele, Eriksen and Kane, with a penalty, gave Spurs victory.
Champions Chelsea remain six points above the bottom three after interim manager Guus Hiddink avoided the first defeat of his second stint at the club by the narrowest of margins.
