Death of IAF officer in hit-and-run case: Kolkata Police arrest Sohrab

The Kolkata Police have already set up a 22-member SIT (Special Investigation Team) to probe the matter. Gaud was killed in the hit and run on Red Road amidst the Republic Day parade rehearsal in Kolkata.

Shahnawaz was behind the Audi in another vehicle. “The law and order has gone out of hands since Mamata Banerjee has taken charge”.

Kolkata: The Kolkata police finally managed to arrest Sambia, the younger son of Trinamool Congress “leader” Mohammed Sohrab, in connection with the Kolkata hit-and-run case on Saturday night, which claimed the life of Indian Air Force (IAF) Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud.

In a related development, city police sleuths had seized Ambia’s passport during a raid at one of the Sohrab residences.

Kabir Khan, brother of key eyewitness of Kolkata Audi hit and run case Shahnawaz Ali, has said that Sambia Sohrab who is the prime accused, was driving the auto and assserted that his brother has no role to play in the tragic incident.

According to reports, after committing the accident, the killer Audi tried to flee from the spot. “He was arrested but we are not revealing much details as this could hamper our investigation”, police sources said.
