George Miller confirms he will direct more Mad Max movies

It took the place of films like “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “Cinderella“, “The Danish Girl“, “Ex Machina“, “Black Mass” and “Star Wars“, which all received Makeup Guild Award nominations.

“The more I speculate about what’s happening, the more I try to avoid spoilers this far out, and also I find myself talking around in circles”, he said.

Miller says he has two possible Mad Max films in the works, but plans to make a “smaller and quicker” film before then. Those “Mad Maxes” take forever. However, that didn’t stop “I won’t make more “Mad Max” movies” from spreading like wildfire. Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic “The Martian” landed 7 nominations, including best picture, but no best director nod for Scott.

Cate Blanchett, George Miller and a large contingent of Australian crew members from Mad Max: Fury Road have been nominated for Oscars.

Mad Max: Fury Road was also partly shot at Fox Studios in Sydney and some other locations in the harbour city.

Production on the post-apocalyptic Fury Road was slated to begin in Australia in 2010, but filming was delayed multiple times as heavy rain turned Miller’s “wasteland” location into a “wonderful flower garden”, prompting the director to move the shoot to Namibia.

Miller’s longtime producing partner Doug Mitchell shared this year’s best picture nomination on Thursday, and Miller will compete with Inarritu for best director.

“The Oscar nominees for best animated film are: “Anomalisa“, “Boy and the World“, “Inside Out”, Shaun the Sheep Movie” and “When Marnie Was There“.

The Force Awakens earned five nominations in technical categories.

The Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 28th.
