Wind chill advisory in effect for McHenry County

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory in effect until noon Monday, with wind chills dropping down to 30 below zero all across the state. The Weather Service said the high temperature on Sunday could reach 44 degrees, but a chance of rain or snow was expected to return that day. An additional 2 to 5 inches of snow is in the forecast for today and Tuesday morning.

The best chance for winter weather will be in northeast Arkansas with some minimal accumulation of snow possible. Low -1F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 miles per hour. That storm force low brought hurricane force winds to the Panhandle of Florida and a foot of snow to parts of Alabama.

Avery, Ashe and Watauga County are under a Wind Chill Advisory right through Tuesday morning. Saturday will be the first day of the week at or below freezing, McCoy said, with a high of 32 forecast for the day.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says the snow could make driving hazardous, with “rapid reductions in visibility”, along with roads being snow covered. Lows will be in the teens with highs again in the mid to upper 30s.

“Minor accumulations of snow are expected through tonight along New Jersey’s south coast”, according to NJ 101.5 Meteorologist Dan Zarrow.

Monday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 23. That system will move out and the cold air will remain for Thursday with highs around 40.

Despite mostly sunny skies, temperatures will only warm to the mid-20s Tuesday.
