Mike McCarthy: Eddie Lacy needs to lose weight

The first shoe is dropping in the aftermath of the Green Bay Packers’ playoff loss.

Coach Mike McCarthy intends to keep calling the offensive plays for the Green Bay Packers. But now head coach Mike McCarthy is moving on to next season and held a end of season press conference on Monday to discuss the future of the Packers.

Eddie Lacy’s productivity was the worst of his three year pro career.

“I think sometimes when things come easy to you, you kind of ease off a little bit and you get lax”, Lacy said. “His offseason a year ago was not good enough, and he never recovered from it”.

This is the second time McCarthy has called Lacy out for his weight. Nelson suffered a torn ACL back in the preseason and missed the entire year.

“Lacy, 25, is listed at 5’11” and 234 pounds. Rodgers also recorded 58 receptions this past season, becoming just the fourth Green Bay tight end to reach 55 receptions in one season. “When you actually get out there and get reps and make some catches, make some plays, yeah, it reminds you of college again“.

Changing a voice in the locker room who works directly with Lacy may help provide the motivation he needs to hit training camp next summer in the best shape of his life.

Lacy rushed for 152 yards on 24 carries during the two-game playoff run, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
