State of the Union, Sanctions on Iran — Capitol Edge

January 21 01:04 2016

Anyone claiming that America’s economy is in decline is peddling fiction. “As he begins the final chapter of the story he has been telling about the meaning (of) America these past seven years, listing the many faiths that called the United States home is not enough”, Manseau wrote in a column for The Washington Post. “Period. It’s not even close”.

He also slammed Haley as “very weak on illegal immigration”, and said she had asked him “for a hell of a lot of money” for her political campaigns in the past. “And it betrays who we are as a country”. She called on Americans to resist the temptation “to follow the siren call of the angriest voices”. Hardly, but he’s accomplished a great deal amid one of the harshest political climates this country has ever seen.

Obama did take some blame for Washington’s hyperpartisan politics.

Obama said: “The world will look to us to help solve these problems, and our answer needs to be more than tough talk or calls to carpet bomb civilians. That may work as a TV sound bite, but it doesn’t pass muster on the world’s stage”, he said pointedly.

Later, repeating a refrain from his speech Tuesday night, the president said, “When politicians insult Muslims, including Muslim-Americans, including Muslim-Americans in uniform fighting on our behalf, when a mosque is vandalized or a kid is bullied, that doesn’t make us safer”.

“It’s the son who finds the courage to come out as who he is, and the father whose love for that son overrides everything he’s been taught”. He said the United States will launch a “moonshot” effort to cure cancer, ans assigned his deputy Joe Biden to lead the effort.

Bringing the topic of climate change into the address, he said anyone who argues against the science behind climate change would be “pretty lonely”. “As a part of both of those visits, the president will spend some time in smaller settings, visiting with members of the community, in addition to addressing larger crowds in both of those communities”.

People chat as they await President Obama’s arrival. I hope I get in. yes.

He departed from the formula of past State of the Union speeches by going light on goals for the year and achievements of the past. “And that’s because they believe that the country as they know it, this American idea”, is “leaving us, that that legacy is being severed”.

The reviews were more mixed among other Republican presidential candidates.

However, the president also spoke about the ways in which average Americans may not feel the recovery in their lives. “We’re feeling a crushing national debt, a health care plan that has made insurance less affordable and doctors less available, and chaotic unrest in many of our cities”.

It wasn’t about policy prescriptions, really, or even about Obama’s record in office.

This does not include those who watched via streaming or online.

The White House said Obama was visiting Nebraska and Louisiana because the states are good illustrations of how his policies are helping people.

Yes, President Obama’s successor, regardless of party, will have to recognize what has gone wrong in the past. He stated that was one of his “few regrets” as President and that the divide had “gotten worse”.

But he also tacitly, and explicitly, admitted mistakes.

“What I’m asking for is hard”.

“Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference”, she later added. We ought to have a security test, not a religious test. And we’ve got to step back and each of us as citizens or as elected officials reflect on the process by which we do politics. “It contradicts everything that makes us the envy of the world”.
