3rd T20: Pakistan choose to bowl in series decider

The T20 leg of Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand ends with a series deciding match.

The 29-year-old combined with skipper Kane Williamson in a record-breaking partnership of 171 runs to give New Zealand a 10-wicket victory in the second T20 and that feat will be playing on the mind of the Pakistan team which appeared completely helpless against the charge.

Like Eden Park, the pitch at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium is a drop-in, which Hesson’s excited about. Martin Guptill requires two more fours to become the second player after Brendon McCullum to do the double of 150 fours and 50 sixes in T20Is.

“I just had coffee with Guppy (Guptill) before and he was raving about how no-one’s hit it twice on there so hopefully Colin can hit it up there and there can be two of them that hit it up there”.

Afridi said to expect changes in the team’s approach to attacking the New Zealand batsmen in the final T20 worldwide contest.

Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi remained optimistic about clinching the series. New Zealand will be involved in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan, and following its completion they will head into a series against Australia.

He said it’s obvious their bowlers should have done better. We have experienced bowlers, we hope Anwar will perform on this surface. We have to play aggressive cricket, with the ball and bat.

Getting his team lined up for the World Cup is certainly a concern for Afridi, who now has seen his Pakistan T20 side drop four of its last five matches, after suffering a three-match sweep by England when the teams met in the United Arab Emirates last November.
