Sure, she is no longer the champion, but Ronda Rousey is still in charge of the mixed martial arts game.

Ronda will be serving as a guest host on U.S. TV skit show Saturday Night Live (SNL) this weekend and ahead of her appearance, she shared her thoughts on becoming so popular in the entertainment industry. In fact, it was the first thing Rousey brought up, saying this was her first time in front of a live audience where she doesn’t get punched in the face.

Featuring host Ronda Rousey and musical guest Selena Gomez, the episode meanwhile drew a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating in the Top 25 markets.

SNL returns on February 6 with Bernie Sanders impersonator and former writer Larry David hosting the show for the first time.

Rousey appeared comfortable and didn’t seem particularly nervous.

What makes the selection of Rousey all the more impressive is that she was chosen shortly after her shocking loss to Holm. I’m in the sport because I like to fight.

SNL marks Rousey’s first planned public appearance since she lost to Holly Holm.

If Rousey keeps moving forward, there may be a spot for her in the entertainment industry that exists beyond playing the muscle woman.

And when criticism is thrown, it will sometimes come along as well-composed as this tweet that someone obviously wrote for Cris Cyborg.

“Have I ever gotten physical towards her?”

When the crowd cheered the gesture, Rousey jokingly shouted: “That’s enough”.

Overall the show was a amusing one, and Rousey got to show off her acting chops that she’s been polishing for the past two years. At this point I told myself, “OK, here’s her chance to really show what she can do and have me forget her frightful accent from ‘Fast and Furious 7.’ Good God, that accent was terrible”.

Rousey was undefeated prior to her UFC 193 clash with Holm, but turned what had been a cordial build-up to the clash in Melbourne into somewhat of a grudge match for herself.
