Trump’s comment came during a campaign rally Saturday at Dordt College in northwest Iowa.

“If you have a candidate for 60 years of his life has supported partial birth abortion, we should not be surprised if as president, that candidate would not defend that right to life”, said Cruz.

For Spellerberg, the somebody is billionaire Donald Trump, who sits atop the field in the countdown to the first-in-the-nation delegate contest in Iowa in just over a week, on February 1. Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican and conservative firebrand, and Iowa social conservative leader Bob Vander Plaats encouraged local Republicans to unite behind Cruz.

While early in the race the two were relatively friendly, they have been aggressively attacking each other as the race has grown tighter. “I can say I have no intention of shooting anybody in this campaign”.

In New Hampshire, Trump is also the candidate who would make the most Republicans stay home in November.

“We need a new George Washington”, Beck said in a statement.

Two anti-establishment candidates – Trump and Cruz – have dominated polling in Iowa for a couple months – leaving more centrist contenders in the dust.

“If Rubio outperforms expectations and Cruz doesn’t do as well, it may not even matter who finishes first”, Iowa Republican strategist Jeff Patch told MSNBC.

Donald Trump is either continuing his campaign for Racist in Chief, and he’s only getting more adept at it-or, he’s got really bad eyesight. Trump then thanked Kaufmann and called him “great” and “dynamic”. “There is so much at stake for us in America”.

The senator did not offer an endorsement, but his presence underscored Mr Trump’s enduring position at the top of the polls as voting approaches. Ted Cruz of Texas scooted across Iowa on Saturday, their campaigns lobbing verbal firecrackers at each other nine days before the party’s caucuses.

“I am a conservative, but I get along with people”, Trump said Sunday on Meet the Press.

Voters can still switch registration at the caucus site, however, and Trump’s team is confident that the thousands of fans willing to wait in long lines in the cold for his rallies will do the same come caucus time.

When asked about the alleged beating, Trump said that his followers are “very passionate.” .
