The rebuilding plan is on.
One of the Philadelphia Eagles’ top priorities going into this offseason was getting Zach Ertz a new, longterm deal, and as of Monday, they’ve already accomplished that goal. Executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman is back in charge now and on Tuesday reportedly wrapped up a second contract extension in as many days. He’s the Eagles’ first safety to make the Pro Bowl since Quintin Mikell went in the 2009-10 season. “From a time standpoint it got done quicker than usual, yeah”.
Another big plus in the signing is it frees up cap space. It’s safe to say his pass rushing skills have interested other teams. Johnson’s is $6.1 million.
And that means, of course, that the Eagles could be more comfortable giving Sam Bradford a meaningful offer to remain in Philly. “I think he’s the best young tight end in the game”. I think it’s a continued philosophy of the organization. “Those are the guys that I want to be mentioned with.”.
Caric also represents Kiko Alonso.
Ertz’s agent, Steve Caric, wouldn’t comment on the contract numbers. He has been with the Eagles since the 2014 season and led the team in tackles each time. He was traded to the Eagles before the 2015 season. Alonso missed that season with a torn ACL, but it came after the spring OTAs and minicamp. “I want to play with Sam. Ultimately, that’s not my decision. And I’m going to push myself to accomplish those goals over the next five years”. “I think he’s excited”, Ertz said. “I can tell you Kiko is very excited about this defense”. “I don”t play the game for financial success.
Coming off a career season, the 2013 second-round draft pick out of Stanford saved the best for last.
