Ted Cruz snags endorsement from Rick Perry

Perry’s endorsement, likely strategic, comes one week before the crucial first-in-the-nation caucuses open in Iowa, closely followed by polls opening in New Hampshire.

“Of those individuals of who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd”, he said.

Just today – former Texas Governor Rick Perry today came out with his endorsement of Cruz.

MCCAMMON: In an interview aboard Cruz’s campaign bus, Perry said after he ended his own presidential bid in September, he wasn’t sure whether he’d endorse someone else.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says his biggest rival, Texas Sen.

After about a month in the lead, Cruz has lost his brief edge over Trump in the Hawkeye State, which goes to caucus next Tuesday.

“You know”, the Texas senator said, eyebrows tented plaintively, black hair neatly parted on the left, “when we launched this campaign, the New York Times promptly opined, ‘Cruz can not win, because the Washington elites despise him.'” He paused for effect, exactly the same way he had paused for effect the previous night in Whitefield, exactly the same way he would pause for effect the next morning in Exeter. Cruz met his wife, Heidi, while working for the Bush campaign, and while Heidi Cruz was offered a job in the Bush White House, Ted Cruz was not.

In an article in the Harvard Law Review a year ago, attorneys Neal Katyal and Paul Clement, who both served as US solicitor general, wrote that “there is no question that Senator Cruz has been a citizen from birth and is thus a “natural born Citizen” within the meaning of the Constitution…”

Trump then accused Cruz of being a liar. Colbert also shows a clip of Glenn Beck, himself a paragon of political sanity, pronouncing Trump getting the nomination as “an end to the Republican party”. “But Perry also has a number of people that have been part of his campaigns, that were staff on his campaigns in Iowa, that were precinct chairs or county leaders”, said Mackowiak. “I knew who Ted Cruz was, I knew he was a smart lawyer”. As it happened, the 2012 election cycle saw the emergence of not one, but two “next George Washingtons” within the Republican presidential field. That being said, it’s unclear exactly how much help Perry is going to be to Cruz in the race going forward. “That seems to be where a lot of the media and people are pushing him hard on – I don’t think what they say is actually what he has said“, said Charles Akron of Masonville.

This is the second weekend in a row that Dordt College in Sioux Center has hosted a Republican presidential candidate. Saturday Donald Trump held a campaign rally in the chapel. It was a full house at Dordt College as thousands packed into the chapel
