Spokesman: Fresh water in Flint state building was for all

January 31 09:22 2016

You’ve probably heard that Flint, Michigan has lead in its water and it’s poisoning the locals.

“I have strongly and continually stated that is it essential for all levels of government to work together to help Flint recover from this crisis, as it was all levels of government that failed Flint”.

Dr. Nicole Lurie of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said the lead level in some Flint locations has exceeded 150 parts per billion, which is the level for which water filters are graded.

President Barack Obama has said it was “inexplicable and inexcusable” that Flint’s residents were drinking contaminated water. She encouraged residents to have their water tested immediately before using filters.

After lead poisoned the drinking water in Flint, residents received filters they were told would make their tap water safe.

Perhaps if Gov. Snyder had not given such generous tax breaks to the wealthiest of his constituents, the $100 per day price tag to properly treat the water supply for the residents of Flint, who are predominately African-American and largely poor, would not have seemed so daunting. But we still have to buy 10 gallons of water to drink and cook with for a little less than a week.

Where does the city’s water come from? “We get such a bad rap and nobody cares, especially in Chicago so much news about violence and stuff”.

Genesee County Volunteer Militia members and protesters gather for a rally outside of Flint City Hall over the city’s ongoing water crisis.

But incredibly, some partisan hacks have begun claiming, some with racist undertones, that somehow Flint residents and the Democratic party are responsible for decisions made by Mr. Snyder’s Republican administration.

“The reality is that they were at public events telling people water was safe to drink even as they were bringing in clean supplies for state employees”.

“I am not responsible for what goes from the meter to them”.

“We are doing everything we can with one of the most-extensive water quality labs in the South”, Cedric Grant, executive director of the city’s water board, told CBS News. There they collected cases of water, bundled them in pallets and loaded them in semi-trucks – 7 trucks so far.

“We’ve had a city in the United States of America where the population, which is poor in many ways and majority African-American, has been drinking and bathing in lead-contaminated water”.

“They were without corrosion control for 18 months”, he said, referring to Flint River water.

“Marco Rubio said he wasn’t fully briefed on the Flint water crisis”.

On Feb. 3, 2015, the governor granted the city $2 million to help with water system infrastructure improvements, such as finding leaks and replacing the wastewater incinerator. But former Attorney General Frank Kelley, in a 1986 opinion, said “the Legislature has exempted state legislators” from the law.
