Obama and Bernie Sanders meet at the White House

Both (former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley) and I have agreed, and we’re waiting for (Sanders) to decide to join us.

“Obviously, it is election season and the press has been focused on debates and divisions they can drum up within the primary and within our party”, Obama said. Now what we’re seeing is Clinton people want more debates.

Clinton remains the front-runner in national polls and has a big lead among nonwhite voters – key parts of the Democratic electorate.

Yet the DNC and its chairwoman, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz – who co-chaired Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign – have refused to acquiesce, despite Clinton’s strong debate performances and accusations they’re shielding her from Sanders’ tougher-than-anticipated challenge. One in March, April and May and none on a Friday, Saturday or holiday weekend.

President Barack Obama welcomed Sanders to the Oval Office for an informal, private 45-minute meeting. Asked whether Sanders has a viable strategy in place in the South, where the latest Marist poll shows him lagging being Clinton 27 percent to 64, Lesniak said no.

Even though Mr Obama has promised not to intervene in the Democratic primary until a nominee is picked, he clearly appeared to be leaning in favour of Mrs Clinton in his interview with Politico, describing her as “wicked smart”.

The DNC, which says it’s sticking with its six sanctioned debates, has an “exclusivity requirement” to hold its candidates to those six events. Sanders is happy to have more debates but we are not going to schedule them on an ad hoc basis at the whim of the Clinton campaign.

Democratic presidential candidate, Sen.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is in “overall very good health”, according to a medical history released Thursday by his campaign in the days leading up to Monday’s Iowa caucuses.

Debates have continued to be a source of tension among the campaigns in the Democratic race. “We are 90 percent covered, we gotta get to 100 percent, and then we gotta get cost down and make it work for everybody”.

“That ability to engage Democrats and excite them and inspire them will be critical to the success of Democrats up and down the ballot, whether Senator Sanders is the nominee or not”, Earnest said.
