Arsene Wenger makes fun of Arsenal about considering signing Barcelona’s Lionel Messi

Now while Arsenal’s narrow 2-1 FA Cup victory over Burnley yesterday was anything but convincing – the two goals aside – one success story from the match was very much Alex Iwobi’s performance. Hector Bellerin is the first-choice right-back.

“It gives me an opportunity to play”.

“I remember I turned him down to go to an U23 friendly tournament and then Nigeria called him up for the first team to force him to go”, Wenger said.

Calum Chambers second goal for Arsenal was a pretty impressive strike to say the least, but he may have let it get to his head somewhat.

When asked whether he will sign any more players today, the Arsenal boss said in a press conference held this morning: “Well, 100% is hard to say, 99% yes”.

“Oh my gosh, he’s still talking about it now”, Iwobi told Arsenal’s official website after the match.

“If possible, I would have been open to one more but there is a rarity of players”.

Injury problems at Manchester United have forced Louis van Gaal’s hand somewhat with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, but the 18-year-old full-back put in another solid display in their 3-1 win over Derby on Friday night.

The Gunners – who have been drawn at home yet again in the fifth round, against Championship leaders Hull City – are now moving closer to what would be an incredible hat-trick of FA Cup triumphs, last achieved in the 19th century. I find him personally very interesting because his decision making is spot on and his awareness is very interesting. I’m trying to get myself stronger in training and things like that.

This surely wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Arsenal

Arsenal were thrashed 4-0 by Southampton in December and Wenger is looking for a response on Tuesday as they look to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Chelsea.
