Microsoft mistakenly reveals unannounced Lumia Phone X

February 01 21:26 2016

Lumia 650 is believed to be the next Microsoft device in the pipeline to see daylight, and according to recent reports, this is scheduled to happen on February 1. Note: “This feature requires a compatible mobile device is intended for use, for example Lumia 950/XL, Lumia Phone X, and Acer Jade Primo“. It is also unclear if this delay only applies to the French carrier, or all phone carriers that carry Windows Phone devices. While the last few have been released as “Microsoft Lumia” devices, it looks like the company are now retiring the brand for good in favour of Surface phones.

According to a report by German website Winfuture, the Black colour variant of the Lumia 650 will be in stock with O2 Germany. Another smartphone going by the Lumia Phone X moniker was mistakenly revealed by the Redmond-based tech giant’s China website in a separate video.

In the storage department, the smartphone is said to pack 8 GB as inbuilt storage which can be expanded through a microSD memory card. In addition, it might feature an 8MP rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera.

This information also seems to gel with the latest information from Vodafone Australia, who say that they’ve finished testing Windows 10 Mobile and are only waiting on “confirmation of rollout schedule” before they proceed. The 650 will likely have 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile had released the Windows 10 Mobile update for Lumia 640 in Poland. There is also a chance that it is simply the last Lumia to make it to the market. With the Surface already out as tablets and even a tablet/laptop hybrid, Microsoft might want to streamline its product lines by only having one line for mobile devices.

The list below includes expected Lumia 650 specifications.
