Top recruit Gary narrows field to Michigan, Clemson

Rashan Gary, the nation’s top recruit, has chose to play for MI. And with that, our long national nightmare is over.

While Wolverines fans are understandably hyped about all the talent committed to Ann Arbor, they do need to realize high school ratings don’t always pan out. Gary made an official visit to the school last weekend, his fifth and final trip.

Penn State was in pursuit of Gary fairly early in the recruiting process but went everything was settled on Signing Day, the biggest blue chip of them all is a Michigan Wolverine. “But the different feel that I got while walking around campus at Clemson told me it was the right place for me”.

Michigan’s recruiting tactics came under fire leading up to Signing Day after one-time commits Erik Swenson and Rashad Weaver publicly aired grievances.

What was it about MI that helped head coach Jim Harbaugh and new linebackers/special teams coach Chris Partirdge, the former PC head man, land Gary?

The 6-foot-5, 293-pounder registered 110 tackles and 27.5 sacks with four forced fumbles the past two seasons with the Paladins. Taking to ESPN to make college announcements might seem silly, but that’s exactly what the fans want. His former high school teammate, Jabrill Peppers, plays defensive back for the Wolverines.

Clemson was in the running, as well as a few Southeastern Conference schools.
