Wilson leads Team Irvin to Pro Bowl win

February 03 20:22 2016

With no Super Bowl trip this season for the Seahawks, their stars came to play – and dominate – at the Pro Bowl on Sunday.

Overall, four Dolphins players participated in the NFL’s annual all-star game. The odds are not going to make anyone rich, with Team Rice at 1.95 and Team Irvin at 1.86, but there are other markets like Over/Under, Point Spread and 1 Half 2 Half props that could easily lead to lucrative winnings.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw for three touchdowns and Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston added two of his own to lead Team Irvin to a convincing 49-27 victory in today’s Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

Eli Manning got the ball rolling for Team Rice with a four-yard touchdown completion to Travis Kelce with 9:31 left in the first quarter, but Wilson of Team Irvin responded with two quick touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes of 14 and 2 yards to Atlanta Falcons teammates Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, respectively, in the opening quarter. Kickoff is slated for 7:15 p.m. on ESPN. The pair combined for 13 touchdowns in the regular season and they should bring some exciting plays to today’s game.

Winston later hooked up with Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins for his second touchdown pass of his Pro Bowl debut.

The 2016 NFL Pro Bowl may be interesting for an unusual reason – rather than acting as a showcase for the top players in the NFL, this year’s game has turned out to be more like a “Futures Game” with the spotlight on the league’s young, up-and-coming talent. As much as an all-expenses-paid week in Hawaii playing patty-cake (almost touch) football against their peers may seem appealing, the new format prevents Super Bowl participants from playing in the event.

Griffen applied pressure on Wilson on a couple of plays and finished with three tackles, the third-highest total for Team Rice.

Of course, superstar quarterbacks Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos and Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers will be absent because their teams will meet on February 7 in the Super Bowl. The site of next year’s Pro Bowl has not yet been determined by the National Football League, although it does have an option to return to Hawaii.

It was the final game of Oakland safety Charles Woodson’s 18-year career.

Buffalo’s Taylor got into the scoring column with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Miami’s Jarvis Landry.
