But while their previous endeavours have mostly been functional, this move into the world of sport is a little more worrying.
A robot named for Tiger Woods celebrated his namesake’s epic hole-in-one at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona 19 years after the golfer originally achieved the feat.
The shot was seminal moment in 16th hole’s fame, fueling its reputation as one of the most exciting holes in golf.
The hole-in-one took place at the 16th hole of the Scottsdale golf course, the only hole in the US PGA tour that’s completely enclosed by grandstands.
Eldric the robot was created by Golf Laboratories Inc and is used for equipment and ball-testing. Again the fans went insane, cheering and showering the green in beer cups. Five swings in, Eldrick the Golf Robot had the hole figured out. It managed to sink a hole-in-one, which put it up there with likes of Francesco Molinari and Tiger Woods.
Eldrick, for those who don’t know, is Tiger’s first name.
Amazing, yes, but just as fabulous is the crowd’s reaction, treating the shot like any other hole-in-one.
