Donald Trump has also latched onto it as a reason to invalidate Cruz’s victory over him in Iowa.
Trump, who placed second in Iowa, on Wednesday accused Cruz, who won, of stealing the election and called for either a new set of caucuses in Iowa or the results to be nullified. Ted Cruz of Texas in Monday’s Iowa caucuses – a loss Trump asserts was due to “fraud” on Cruz’s part – the real estate tycoon has lost his command of the GOP race, according to the first national poll conducted entirely after the caucuses shows.
Ted Cruz committed “fraud” when he sent an email to supporters that implied Dr. Ben Carson had dropped out of the race.
“Ted Cruz proved he could successfully beat back Trump attacks because he had a great ground game and identified well with evangelical voters”. Marco Rubio, Fla., probably gained the most among the large Republican field, vaulting past other “establishment” candidates to almost overtake Trump for second place. Surveys conducted after the Iowa caucuses showed him maintaining a 20-point-plus lead over all comers in advance of New Hampshire’s primary Tuesday.
Cruz won 27.7% of the vote in the Republican caucus in Iowa, staking his claim to be the new standard bearer of the right.
Asked whether the campaign planned to file a formal complaint, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said: “Wait and see”. “I think her plans are achievable, and they’re detailed, and I think she’s a much stronger candidate in the general election”, Dover resident Casey Conley said.
Trump also blasted Cruz for a voter mailer that appeared official and listed the recipient’s neighbors, giving all of them a score for voter participation and saying they were in “violation” for not voting.
“I’m most experienced at foreign policy because I know what I’m doing”, he argued, adding that he is the only remaining Republican candidate who opposed the Iraq War. He should be talking to New Hampshire voters.
The network said it had only reported that Carson would go to Florida instead of New Hampshire or SC immediately after the caucuses to take a “deep breath” and get clean clothes.
“That’s history”, said Mark Keith, superintendent of the Camden Fairview School District, who said he’s undecided on who to support in the primary.
“It’s a total voter fraud when you think of it and he picked up a lot of those votes and that’s why the polls were so wrong, because of that”, Trump said.
