Klopp: Liverpool won’t follow Payet to the toilet

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his players must come up with a plan to deal with West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet when the two sides clash on Tuesday, but says they will not go as far as to follow him to the toilet.

The England striker has been struggling with a hamstring injury, but was an unused substitute in the 2-2 Premier League draw against Sunderland on Saturday.

The two sides meet in an FA Cup fourth-round replay at Upton Park after a 0-0 draw at Anfield on January 30. [Sturridge] was fit enough to be on the bench on Saturday.

“We had hoped he would play for 15 minutes but it didn’t happen”.

The German, who said he would have to keep his emotions in check on the sidelines after being treated for an appendicitis at the weekend, confirmed that striker Divock Origi had also resumed training after undergoing knee surgery.

“It’s a little bit complicated, because overtime is possible, right?” They can’t start all together – it’s not possible because then you know you could have to change three times. It is complicated with changing so we have to look at who will start – the whole game would be too much for all three.

“We play our football”.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic believes pressure is not driving Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to attend their FA Cup match, despite having his appendix removed on Saturday. In this moment we have 38 players in our squad, with all the young lads involved and we always train with them and the rest can rest.

“Like I said before the West Ham game, it’s easier to be courageous against Exeter”. I had one not too good night but I feel good. “So I think we will have a different line-up”.

“The solution with Payet is to try and avoid the passes to him so he can’t influence the game”, Klopp said. That’s a shame for him because he played really well.

Cameron Brannagan would usually have started in a game like this but he’s been ruled out through injury so we could see Joao Teixeira alongside Kevin Stewart.
