In his message, the AJK Premier said that Afzal Guru was hanged to death without being given a fair trial.
Official sources said that areas falling under police stations of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, S.R. Gunj, Safa Kadal and Maisuma in Srinagar will remain under curfew-like restrictions from dawn on Tuesday till further orders.
This alleged action by Facebook comes on a day when shops, public transport and other business establishments remained closed in Srinagar and all other major cities and towns in the Valley. The strike also hit life in restriction-free areas in the city.
Jammu & Kashmir police had launched a crackdown on the separatists on Monday to foil the protests.
Armoured vehicles were also seen at some road junctions including Jehangir Chowk, Bemina crossing, Parimpora crossing and other road junctions to thwart any protests.
He appealed to masses to observe complete shutdown tomorrow Tuesday on the anniversary of Shaheed Afzal Guru. The JKLF has planned protests on February 9 and 11 to mark the hanging anniversaries of Butt and Guru.
Ahead of Afzal’s third death anniversary, the J&K Police cracked down on the separatist leaders, arresting the JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik on Monday while the Hurriyat (G) leaders, Shabir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Khan, were placed under house arrest.
While thanking people of Kashmir for their support and affection, Ghalib said that they expect nothing form pro-India politicians present in Kashmir Valley.
Authorities placed several separatists under house arrest and detained many others to “maintain law and order”. “Current freedom struggle of Kashmiris is being oppressed by India via genocide, arrests, torture and other repressive tactics”.
The protesters said that the best tribute to Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guroo is to take their mission forward.
Guru’s family and separatists have been demanding the mortal remains of Guru eversince he was hanged by the jail authorities in Delhi.
