The head coach met with reporters after the game and said he was OK, saying the collapse stemmed from Vertigo. The 65-year-old coach said the condition is triggered by sudden head movements.
“We were getting our butt kicked”, Paige said. “I’ve had some vertigo attacks over the last 17 or 18 years”.
According to the News and Observer, Williams has sometimes gone to a knee when a bout of dizziness came over him, but Tuesday may have marked the first time it disrupted his ability to coach in a game. “It didn’t quite work in the first half, but it did motivate some other guys in a different way to play a little harder, give a little bit more, and I think some guys responded that way”.
