THE VERDICT: Although fans have been waiting for the big screen story of the Merc with a Mouth since Wade Wilson’s appearance in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, but the film has actually been stuck in development hell since 2000.
Still, for those of us who don’t find every deviation from hetero life a riot, Deadpool at least offers some relief from superhero solemnity.
“Here’s the thing, the “Deadpool” fans freaked out and overwhelmed Fox and Fox basically had to greenlight the movie“, Reynolds said.
There were some exceptions, although they weren’t from the major comic book titles. “We even made a taster but that sat on the shelf for four years until someone leaked it on the web and then within 24 hours it got the green light”.
Not only does Deadpool like to destroy his enemies, but he likes to do it on screen.
Deadpool might inadvertently mean the end, but in clever hands, it could spin Fox toward its own golden age of comic book movies. However, instead of shying away from the similarities, they embraced them – even going so far as to name the man under Deadpool’s mask “Wade Wilson“.
He told E News: “There should be more male nudity in movies“.
The movie does have some of the usual superhero conventions, though. It only gets better from there.
According to Gizmodo, Deadpool’s writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had revealed that a follow-up film will definitely make sense, for the reason that the film is expected to be a hit with Ryan Reynolds for the lead role. You just can’t pretend it’s radical, on-the-edge comedy when the hero picks the same joke targets as Donald Trump. Like The Mask, it’s built around a motor-mouthed not-quite-hero who turns reality into a Tex Avery cartoon, and like last year’s graphic-novel-based Kingsman: The Secret Service, it cracks its knuckles and dives into exploiting its R-rating for all the blood-spattered action it can churn out. Still, it isn’t like they can put him in an X-Men dominated PG-13 universe, unless they really wanted to get daring.
It is still unlikely that the rest of Fox’s non-Deadpool comic book universe will get raunchier, and that any part of the DCU and MCU will push the limits either, especially with the Justice League starting up and the Avengers changing the guard soon. “It was weird at first but we were buddies for a long time“.
